Scott Waters Opticians is a long-established independent practice located in the heart of Newbury, Berkshire. For more than 20 years, we have been providing professional eye care and quality eyewear to individuals and families throughout the local community, combining clinical expertise with a genuinely personal approach.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of caring for multiple generations of the same families. These long-standing relationships are something we value greatly and reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional service, trusted advice, and continuity of care for every patient who visits us.

Personalised Eye Care

At Scott Waters Opticians, we believe every patient deserves individual attention and clear, honest professional advice. We take the time to understand your lifestyle, visual requirements, and eye health needs, ensuring our recommendations are tailored specifically to you.

Whether you are visiting for a routine eye examination, contact lenses, specialist eye care, or a new pair of glasses, our experienced team is dedicated to providing a comfortable and welcoming experience from start to finish.

Independent Expertise Supported by Advanced Technology

Between them, Scott and Sach have more than 50 years of experience within the optical profession. Scott began his career as an optical technician, developing an in-depth understanding of lens manufacture and spectacle construction, while Sach qualified as an optometrist from City, University of London and brings extensive clinical expertise to the practice.

To support the highest standards of patient care, we continue to invest in advanced diagnostic technology that allows us to assess eye health in greater detail and detect potential problems earlier.

Our technology includes:

  • Topcon Triton 3D OCT for detailed retinal imaging and advanced screening for conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes-related eye disease, and vascular changes associated with high blood pressure.
  • iCare Tonometer, which enables us to measure intraocular pressure comfortably without the traditional puff of air test.
  • Digital Slit Lamp Imaging for detailed assessment of the front of the eye, including the cornea, eyelids, and ocular surface.
  • Corneal Topography to identify corneal irregularities such as keratoconus and high astigmatism, as well as supporting specialist contact lens fitting.
  • MYAH Dry Eye Assessment Technology, including meibography imaging to assess the health of the meibomian glands responsible for maintaining a healthy tear film.
  • Axial Length Measurement, allowing us to accurately monitor eye growth in children undergoing myopia management and assess the effectiveness of treatment over time.

This investment in technology helps us provide more comprehensive eye examinations, earlier detection of eye conditions, and personalised recommendations based on detailed clinical information.

Quality Eyewear Made In-House

One of the things that sets Scott Waters Opticians apart is our onsite optical laboratory. Having our own lab allows us to glaze many spectacles in practice, giving us complete control over quality and craftsmanship.

Because we fit lenses ourselves, every pair of glasses receives careful attention throughout the manufacturing process. This not only helps us maintain the highest standards but also enables us to offer services such as spectacle repairs, adjustments, and selected 1-hour glasses for suitable prescriptions.

For more than two decades, Scott Waters Opticians has been proud to serve Newbury and the surrounding Berkshire area. Our reputation has been built on professional expertise, personal recommendations, and a commitment to treating every patient as an individual.

Whether you are looking for expert eye care, advanced eye health assessments, contact lenses, myopia management, dry eye care, or quality eyewear, our experienced team is here to help you enjoy clear, comfortable vision for years to come.
